Rev. Amy C. Figg
Pastor of Family Ministry and Care Giving
Biography
Pastor Amy Figg joined the St. John's Lutheran Church family, serving first as Youth and Young Adult Minister in 1996 and then accepting a call as Pastor to Families with Children and Youth and of Specialized Pastoral Care in 2000.
She graduated with honors from the University of Kentucky in May 1989 with a major in Pre-Law Studies and a minor in Psychology. She graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in December 1992 with a Masters of Divinity in Pastoral Counseling. She completed ten units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), specializing in pediatric and adolescent spirituality. Her clinical work with children diagnosed with cancer took her to Kosiar Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY and Brenner's Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC; she rounded out her clinical experience at Baptist Hospital here in Knoxville, serving primarily as chaplain with adults dealing with chemical dependency and mental illness. She completed her Lutheran Studies at Lutheran Theological Seminary in Columbia, SC in May 2000 and was ordained on December 17, 2000.
In addition to pastoral ministry, she is passionate about leadership development; she considers herself blessed to be part of the teams that founded Over the Mountains Teens Encounter Christ (OTM TEC) in 2002 and Win Our World (WOW) Urban Mission Camp in 2004.
She has blue blood, though not because of royal descent. Through thick and thin, she cheers on the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
